Get Involved

There are countless ways to get involved at the South Boston Neighborhood House. Our goal is to help individuals and corporations find opportunities that fit their needs while also helping to make a difference.

We are grateful to the many individuals, companies and organizations that have given their time and resources showing our youth and their families that someone cares. We hope you choose to become a part of the important work that we do.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are an integral part of the South Boston Neighborhood House. Each year, hundreds of individuals and groups donate their time and talent with our agency. We rely heavily on the generosity of our volunteers to carry out our programs and services. A volunteer can be involved in a one time only event or can work in a program over a longer period of time. Volunteers can get involved in the following ways:

  • Tutoring
  • Fundraising
  • Event Committees
  • Family Fun Nights
  • Holiday Gift Wrapping
  • Ollie Road Race
  • Blood Drives
  • Teen Dances

Special Events

The Neighborhood House hosts many events which require volunteer participation as well as financial support. These events are great opportunities for occasional volunteer involvement, financial sponsorship or in-kind donations.

  • Reception and Auction
  • Ollie Road Race
  • Jimmy Nee Memorial Golf Tournament
  • South Boston Women Helping South Boston Girls - Ladies Night
  • Literacy Fair
  • Monthly Early Books Family Fun Nights
  • 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament
  • Senior Program Flea Market

Corporate Involvement

The Neighborhood House offers corporations the opportunity to get involved in one time or on-going projects. For example, a company might like to sponsor and organize an event for one of the programs, enhance a program space, or paint a classroom. Likewise, involvement can be ongoing such as orchestrating monthly community service projects for school age youth or semi-annual house cleaning and painting. We ask that the group provide the necessary supplies to complete the project.
