Old Colony Initiative

With funding from the Boston Inner-City Education and Housing Initiative, the South Boston Neighborhood House expanded its collaboration with the Old Colony Tenant Association with the offering of two educational enrichment programs for youth and their families in the Old Colony Housing Development. In holding true to our settlement house roots, as with all programming, this program encourages family involvement to increase individual and family self-sufficiency.

The Morning Mom & Me Program is offered two (2) mornings a week and enrolls families with children under the age of 6. The After School Enrichment Program is offered three (3) afternoons a week and focuses on children in grades 3-5ages to 12 years of age. Both programs operate at the Teen Center on Old Colony Ave located in the Old Colony Housing Development.

Beginning in 2006, a six-week academic enrichment summer program was held from 9-3.
