School Age Programs
The School Age Program works to meet the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs of each child at various stages of development. The trained and dedicated teaching staff offers a wide variety of developmentally appropriate activities in a safe, comfortable, and nurturing environment. This setting provides children with the opportunity to develop socialization skills through interaction with peers. Staff is trained to respect individual differences in maturation, interests, and personality and to support the development of each child’s sense of positive self-esteem. Opportunities for choice by the children are provided regularly to encourage personal responsibility and independence. Quality school-age care is considered to be a meaningful component in the development of healthy, happy adolescents.
The SBNH School Age Program enrolls children ages 5 to 12 years of age. The program operates at the main site located at 136H Street, South Boston, MA 02127.
School Age Schedule
School Age is open during the school year Monday - Friday, 2:15 to 5:30 p.m.. The Program bases its Full Day schedule on the Boston Public and local private School calendars (i.e. vacations, early dismissals, professional days).
Parents should inform the Program of such closures at least two weeks in advance. This policy does not include the beginning or end of the school year.
It is important that the children arrive at established times in order to maintain a safe and adequately supervised program.
If the Governor declares a Stare of Emergency, SBNH will close at the discretion of the Executive Director. You may call the SBNH at 617-268-1619 for announcements on closings.
